The Meditox Method has been carefully designed by addiction specialists and medical professionals to offer the most effective treatment possible while allowing patients to continue living their normal lives with as little disturbance as possible.

Different from Inpatient Treatment or Hospitalization

Meditox offers an economical and time-efficient solution to opiate detoxification versus inpatient drug rehabs or hospitalization, which require a patient to be relatively confined from anywhere from 7 days to a month.

With the Meditox Method:

• The patient makes just 1 visit to a Meditox office for a thorough assessment, and then returns home to finish a customized six-week program.

• Meditox uses a series of medications that minimize the painful effects of detox and drug withdrawal.

• Patients are able to recover safely in the comfort of their own homes, while continuing with their normal daily activities of work, school, family, etc.

• The Meditox Method’s protocol helps to deter drug cravings and minimize the risks of relapse.

• Meditox is much less expensive than hospital stays and drug rehabs, which can cost tens of thousands of dollars in addition to income that might be lost while taking time off from work. Meditox patients visit an office once, then go home and can generally return to their jobs, school or any other commitments within a couple of days.

Different from Working with Individual Physicians that Prescribe Suboxone

Meditox believes that every person has a unique situation with individual needs.

Although a physician can obtain a certification to prescribe Buprenorphine (Suboxone or Subutex) relatively easily, the use of this medication for detoxification is still very new. And while there are thousands of physicians that are certified to prescribe Buprenorphine to treat opiate addiction, no one has as much experience in the industry as Meditox.

Meditox physicians are opiate addiction specialists that have successfully treated thousands of patients.

Our physicians are highly experienced in using a protocol of medications (not just Buprenorphine) that treat all of the systems of opiate withdrawal to create a safe and comfortable detox. In addition, Meditox offers patients support throughout the process.

The Meditox Method is a bio-psycho-social approach.

Our method recognizes that medication alone is not enough. The Meditox Method offers the expertise and advice of doctors and nurses that are available and “on-call” throughout the program.

Different from Rapid Detox Programs

The Meditox Method is very different from the much more expensive “rapid detox programs” that combine anesthesia with antagonist drugs to enable a quicker detox. Although rapid detox programs have been quite popular in the past, medical treatment professionals acknowledge the risk of any procedure that involves anesthesia. And recent studies have proven that rapid detox is no more effective than other commonly used methods.

Meditox’s treatment program is a safe alternative to anesthesia-based detox programs.

Additionally, while rapid detox only takes several hours, the side effects of being under anesthesia for that long are often severe and painful and it can take days or even weeks before a person feels normal again. Moreover, rapid detox doesn’t address the psychological problems or drug cravings associated with drug detoxification.

Meditox’s protocol of medication eliminates drug cravings and our trained, experienced addiction specialists provide support and advice to patients throughout the process.

“Rapid Detox Fails Clinical Trials”

According to a study performed by the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), simply anesthetizing a person and rapidly blasting their opioid receptors with antagonist drugs like naloxone is not more effective in relieving withdrawal or retaining people in treatment than ... other commonly used methods.

“The procedure is, however, expensive and dangerous—about a dozen people have died from complications over the years.” (Source: Statistical Assessment Service (STATS)).
