Pain Killer Treatment
There are several different forms of treatment for individuals who are addicted or dependent upon pain killers. For most patients, the ultimate goal of treatment is complete abstinence from these opiates. In order to achieve this goal, the body must be totally cleared - or detoxified - of all drugs.
One type of treatment is "Rapid Opiate Detoxification" (ROD). Loimer was the first to report using an "ultrarapid" technique in 1988 and other protocols have been developed since that time. This is accomplished by placing the patient under anesthesia using high doses of naltrexone to decrease the length of time of acute withdrawal from several days to a few hours.
Consequently, while the patient is under anesthesia, he or she is not feeling any discomfort and upon awakening, detoxification is complete. The patient's brain and body are then completely free of drugs and there has been no awareness of the experience of severe and uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms. In addition, any craving the patient might have is blocked.
Another type of pain killer treatment is methadone maintenance. Some patients have chosen a thirty day detox program. This entails starting with a stable dose of 30 to 40 mgs. of methadone daily for one week. The patient then is slowly detoxed at the rate of one to two mgs. per daily dose until he or she has been completely detoxed off the use of methadone and hopefully, remains totally drug free.
The Meditox Method is a program that has been designed to provide pain killer treatment to individuals who are highly motivated to become drug free. You need not lose any time from work or school and can continue your lifestyle while improving your life. Our treatment with Bupeprenorphine/Suboxone is safe and effective and you will not be trading one form of addiction for another.
