Pain Killer Rehab
Individuals who become physically addicted or emotionally dependent upon pain killers should not receive the same treatment as those who are users of other opiates. Rehab clinics or centers that focus on detoxification of heroin or morphine, for example, are not appropriate places for users of pain killers since the mind sets of the users of the "hard drugs" are different than those who have inadvertently become addicted to pain killers because of drug mismanagement. This usually occurs even though the patient has followed doctor's orders because he or she has been left high and dry without an exit strategy - while the user of heroin or morphine and the like has made a conscious choice to use these drugs for recreational purposes.
Most rehab centers provide 30, 60, 90 or even 180 day programs where the patient is required to disrupt his life and take time off from work or school and remain an in-patient for a large period of time. Often the rules of the program are extremely rigid with the counseling style done confrontationally.
In addition, group counseling is the norm. Theoretically, whatever is said in group is supposed to be covered by the rules of confidentiality but this is only legally binding to the clinicians. Patients can only hope that other group members will not betray their trust.
The Meditox Detox Program provides individual counseling to each patient based on his or her needs; there is no group counseling. Consequently, your privacy and confidentiality is assured. You are not required to remain at the center as an in-patient and are free to continue with your career and education with no disruption of your life while becoming drug free. The medically-supervised administration of Bupeprenorphine/Suboxone will safely and effectively wean you off the need for pain killers without trading addictions.
