Oxycotin Addiction

When you take opiate drugs like oxycotin or hydrocodone, certain chemical pathways in your brain are activated to alleviate pain. Extended use of these drugs, however, can create long-term dependency that causes painful withdrawal when removed, as your body becomes accustomed to these chemical pathways being active. At Meditox, we use the drug buprenorphine to help you fight oxycotin addiction and its withdrawal symptoms on a chemical level.

When you take buprenorphine, it activates some of the same chemical pathways that oxycotin or hydrocodone would. However, it works much more slowly, so there is no "high" sensation of any kind. The buprenorphine then serves to block these pathways, so even if you do take a different opiate while on buprenorphine, it won't have any effect.

Buprenorphine is different from other opiates in that your brain never becomes accustomed to it. When you have finished detoxifying from a prescription drug, you can safely stop taking buprenorphine without any withdrawal. In effect, buprenorphine is substituted for your painkillers, so that your body can cleanse itself of its need for all of them, safely ending your oxycotin addiction.

Buprenorphine is government-approved and completely safe for outpatient use. Since its effects are so mild, it's nearly impossible to abuse--and it also prevents abuse of any other opiate while it's in the body.
