He was on 40 mgs of methadone a day. He took 4 mgs of sub tues morn. Then another 4 mgs at 3:30pm. From then he went to 4 mgs at 7:00pm. Next day 4 mgs at 7am then 4 at 11pm. same thing 7a and 11p for the next three days. Hopefully his last 4 mgs will be at midnite Sunday. Then done. He says he feels better than he ever has. We cannot afford $200 a week for 32 mgs a day. By the way, doc also prescribed him an antidepressant. He says the fog is lifting. Don't trade addictions. If you want to get off, you have to trust yourself. Will let you know if this one week detox works. Trust me, this is a business. Unless you find the doctor who really wants to help you without his concern for the almighty $$$ you need to trust that you can do this. Find out why you need to self medicate. Move into the present. Now is all we have. Yesterday is gone. Why do you think they call it the present? Because it is a gift. Find your happiness. and Live. I live in southern california...and one day I went to TJ, MX. and went to see my doctor over there (legal drug dealer). I always got a script of tylenal with 30mg codiene. I asked him if he had anything stronger and he gave me a script of Temgesic or Buprenorphine or yes..you guessed ...Subutex. It was in .3mg ampoles. So I tried for the very first time to inject into my butt. It just made me feel good. Not high or anything...just good. I ended up going to TJ every week for over a year. Then I tried to stop abrubly and of course I went into withdrawal. So I went back on it and was ok....So next thing I know I am walking down the street in TJ and ran into a store owner and I just asked him out of the blue if he knew where i could get some heroin. I had never done it before and thought I could stop wasting my money on subutex. He got me some heroin and there was no way I was gonna put that sh*t in my vein so I did it just like the subutex. I prepared it and the shot it in my butt. Ouch..dammit it hurts to put it in my muscle. That was the first time ever to do heroin...september of 2007 on my birthday. I liked it ! I caught a cool buzz and then then second time I went to mx for more heroin ...i told that guy "listen..if i come back to you for more h dont ever get it for me again." He agreed. The next thing I know...I am going to TJ every 3 or 4 days to get heroin. So I got off of Subutex and now I am married to Heroin. A year passes and I am angry at myself for wasting all that money on H. Ok...so now I read about subtex to get off H. I went and got some more sub in TJ and being stupid injected it to get of H. So now I go into severe withdrawal and had to run back to the third world country in withdrawal to buy more heroin. So I am back on H and now start to cry and pray because nothing will ever get me off of H. Here is the moral of this story......You gotta know what you are doing for subutex to help you. A month later I started to web reseach a detox center. I got an appointment with a doctor and he did it the right way. I was in his office and was told to be in withdrawal before taking subutex. Be off of H for at least 24 hours. My appointment was at 3:30pm so the day before I did my last dose of heroin at 2:30pm. I was ok until the morning when I had to go to work...I needed just a little to get me to work. So I did just a little h to help me get going. That was at 7 am. I was in the doctors office at 3:30 and in slight withdrawal but was feeling really bad none the less. I told him that I did just a little this morning...and he really did not want me to start the induction. Well I convinced him that I was sick and I started on 4mg sublingual (under the tongue) and I started to feel good. Then he gave me the other half of the pill and then it hit....I went into withdrawal.....severely. So he said ..it is too late now..we gotta keep going. So during the next 2 hours I got about 4 8mg pills into me. 32 mg. I went home still in withdrawal but...it lasted almost 2 days before I was stablelized. I was sick and hurting but I kept taking the subutex , I took 4 8mg pills during the each day. That was friday afternoon....then by monday morning I was able to go to work still feeling bad but able to be productive. I could have gotten off H by myself but did not realize that I needed alot of subutex to get into my brain about 32mg. and you gotta be in withdrawal for it to work correctly. So now I am happy to say that I am not a junkie anymore and even though I traded one narotic for another I feel I am doing with it with intellegence. When I come off of subutex I will do it very slowly and wean myself off. I am gonna offend someone here but don't take it personaly. As for that goofball that thinks Jesus is gonna take your withdrawal sysmtoms away...you derserve this. Jesus Christ is my personal saviour too....and I will be in heaven because of Him too ,but thinking that you are gonna pray to Him to take your withdrawal symtoms away is very incredibly naive. or in his words :(I won’t place limitations on the powers of my God by questioning His ability to remove my addiction from me as all things are possible through Christ Jesus) I did this to myself and to beg Him to take my pain away is just not gonna happen. He was on many roxy's a day for a long time. Then went to methadone. On another forum I read of a plan to get him off everything in a week. We are trying it. The doctor prescribed 8 mgs 4x a day for 7 days. The forum guy suggested that anyone can do this in 7 days with just 8 pills. As my husband has a very addictive personality and bouts of depression, we are both worried about a new addiction to subutex. Just looking for a bit more info on methadone detox using subutex. Appreciate all the info I've seen. Seems like DIY is going to work better than Doctors advice. Thanks. P.S. There is a reason for all of this. My husband started subutex yesterday. Just as with methadone using suboxone for a long time causes chronice dry mouth. The end result is tooth decay. I must admit that I can go to sleep with the tablet under my tongue and wake up to a terrible toothache with the suboxone still undissolved. I have had one root canal on a bottom tooth, and it looks like I'm gonna have to have another one on the other side of my mouth. Just wondering it this is really bad coincidences or is there a direct link to long-term suboxone use and tooth decay. Christ be with you all, Liz.
