Everything You Need To Know To Stay Safe on Subutex…But Didn’t Know To Ask
Like any drug, there are certain things you need to know about Subutex to make sure that you use it safely especially if you are taking other medications or have a medical condition. Make sure that you tell your Meditox doctor about everything in your medical file that is relevant.
Medical Conditions on Subutex
If you have any of the following medical issues, be sure to let the doctor know BEFORE you start taking Subutex:
* lung disease
* liver disease
* brain diseases (lesions)
* hypothyroidism
* Addison’s disease
* toxic psychosis
* enlarged prostate or urethral narrowing
* kyphoscoliosis
* biliary tract disease
* allergies
If you have any of these conditions, they may be made worse by taking too high a dose of Subutex or taking it for too long. In general, Subutex can make you sleepy so if you have conditions that already make you feel that way then use extra caution when you’re driving, operating machinery or responsible for small children. If you’re pregnant, make sure that you discuss the risk factors with your doctor. Breastfeeding mothers are recommended to avoid taking it until they have weaned their child.
Other Drugs in Combination with Subutex
Some medications don’t mix so well with others and together create a chemical disaster inside your body. To make sure that your Subutex prescription works to its full potential, make sure that you let your Meditox doctor know if you are taking any MAO inhibitors, tranquilizers, sleep medication, psychiatric medication, any drug that lowers liver metabolism, anti-seizure drugs, sedatives or local anesthetics. Take special care that you take Subutex exactly as your doctor prescribes and avoid combination with recreational drugs including alcohol.
Precautions When Taking Subutex
If you are concerned that you are not taking Subutex correctly or if you experience side effects that are overwhelming, contact your doctor. If you are worried that you have taken too much and may have overdosed, call 911 and poison control immediately.
