Breaking Drug Addiction on Your Own: Is It Possible?
It is part of the disease of drug addiction that the addict believes that breaking their physical dependency on drugs is easy with a little will power—or “won’t” power. After all, the addiction to pain killers and prescription medication came about with little work. Why wouldn’t quitting the pills be just as easy?
Unfortunately, it’s not a one-to-one scenario. Though it’s possible to achieve short breaks from using or taking pills when you’re addicted, it’s almost impossible to truly break your habit and live without drugs for a significant length of time. According to The National Institute on Drug Abuse, the best way to achieve a meaningful recovery and remain abstinent is to enroll in a drug rehabilitation treatment that treats your physical addiction to opiate prescription painkillers medically.
If you’re serious about turning your life around, an outpatient program is a great way to get a handle on your opiate-based medication issues without allowing your rehabilitation to take over your life more than your addiction already has. Without the time commitment required by residential inpatient programs, you can focus on rebuilding your relationships at home, at work and in your community.
Meditox provides you with the medical prescription you need to detox comfortably and the freedom to get your life back together again.

I don’t see anything wrong with this. Each human being is responsible for what he/she puts in his/her mouth/body.
No government or government agency is responsible for my welfare and frankly I resent interference of such entities, or of anyone for that matter, in how I take care of myself.
If my research led me to believe that I did need a commercially synthesized and packaged narcotic then I’m glad that there are places where I could buy it without more than my credit card.

Thanks for the comment, Nia. While you’re right that we’re all ultimately responsible for our own welfare, there are already regulations and laws that just aren’t being enforced. Surely we don’t want kids to be able to purchase controlled narcotics without any prescriptions! If someone is abiding by the law, then more power to them. But those who are breaking laws to deal narcotics online without repercussions should definitely be punished. You don’t agree?

If people could stop using illegal drugs in Addiction, they’re wouldn’t be any drug addicts? I know it’s too hard for anyone to see when they are young and think they can do anything. But, if they could they would use drugs to harm they’re brains and body. I laugh at the thought of someone being forced to do drugs, It is your decision to use or not to use. If you chose to use, you made the wrong decision? I feel sorry for anyone who is so gullable and uninformed on life! It’s hilarious and ignorant really. Stay away from danger if you can, decide if you can’t?

I know exactly what you mean, Debrinconcita! I heard a poet once who spoke about her heroin addiction and she was complaining in her piece, something along the lines of “I didn’t ask to be a junky,” and I just thought: “You didn’t ask not to be, either.” A big part of staying clean, in my opinion, is taking responsibility for yourself, your decisions and the consequences those decisions bring.

Debrinconcita, while reading your posting, I was thinking, “she’s right” it was non-judgemental and matter of factly. Then you state you laugh at someone who is forced to take drugs.
Then your comment, “I feel sorry for anyone who is so gullable and uniformed on life!” Do you know about EVERYTHING there is about life? You don’t know what it is like for someone else unless you’ve walked in their shoes. I can’t imagine what response you could give that would make you not be judgmental. Have you ever got a speeding ticket or turned on a red light? How about turning the car around to shut something off you think you left on…?
It’s all about coping and some people are better at it than another.
