Celebrity Drug Rehab Profile: Drew Barrymore
Despite the highly successful Hollywood family from which Drew Barrymore hails, her life has been far from a fairy tale. She landed her first acting role at the age of 11 months and made a few more TV and film appearances before playing Gertie in the cult classic E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial. She was 8 years old at the time and it was soon after that things started going downhill.
When she was 9 years old, Drew was drinking heavily. The following year she began smoking weed and by the time she was 13, she was using cocaine. Her next stop was rehab, but she only stayed a few weeks before running away. Her mother hired private detective to find her and bring her back. Three months later, she went home and began a stay sober campaign through interviews in print and on TV. Unfortunately, her newfound sobriety didn’t last long: she was soon using again and ended up trying to commit suicide.
Drew’s second trip to rehab was a successful one and at the age of 16, Drew helped write a book about her life up until that point called Little Girl Lost.
If Drew were addicted to opiate painkillers now, a much easier way to detox would be Suboxone treatment. Rather than suffering through inpatient residential drug addiction treatment, Suboxone provides an outpatient treatment that allows you to maintain your responsibilities at work and at home while you’re getting well. Regain your mental clarity safely without withdrawal symptoms while you take care of your family.
